Russian Defense Minister Serghei Shoigu has ordered Moscow troops to withdraw from the city of Kherson.

Tass reports it. "Proceed with the withdrawal of the soldiers," he said on television as Russian flags were reportedly removed from several buildings in the city center.

The decision was made after a report received from the commander of the Russian forces in Ukraine , General Surovikin. 115,000 civilians have been evacuated from the region, he said, accusing Ukrainians of bombing schools, hospitals and the same civilians evacuated across the Dnieper.

Shoigu then approved Surovikin's proposal to deploy troops on the left bank of the Dnieper to organize a new defensive line after the retreat from Kherson .

Meanwhile, Kirill Stremousov , the deputy governor of the pro-Russian administration of Kherson, was killed. According to the pro-Russian forces he died in a car accident.
