The electoral campaign for the US presidential elections is in full swing.

In fact, the primaries that will lead to the investiture of the two candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties in view of the autumn vote have begun and, on the Grand Old Party side, Donald Trump immediately got off to a very strong start.

The former president, despite the many judicial troubles, in fact won the first stage of the caucuses in Iowa (a state with over 3 million inhabitants, which is worth 6 major electors). Indeed, Trump won by a landslide: the New York tycoon trailed his challengers by more than thirty points in less than half an hour, beating the record set by Bob Dole in 1988 by more than double.

In second place was Florida governor Ron DeSantis , who beat former US ambassador to the UN Nikky Haley .

"I am honored and invigorated by this victory" was the tycoon's first comment.

The results of the Iowa caucuses were also commented on by incumbent President Joe Biden , who is aiming for re-election for the Democrats. Biden acknowledged that after Iowa , Trump "is the favorite for the Republican nomination" and warned that if his predecessor won, Americans should expect "vile attacks, endless lies and massive spending."
