The next presidential election in the United States, that of 2024, is not that far off. And in the uncertainty of a reappointment of the current president Joe Biden, the Democrats are looking for a possible new name.

According to the Wall Street Journal, it could be that of Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state, former first lady and back from a sensational blow against Donald Trump in 2016.

"Various circumstances have created a leadership vacuum in the Democratic party that Hillary Clinton could fill," reads the Wall Street Journal editorial by Douglas Schoen and Andrew Stein. Clinton would already be in an advantageous position to become the Democratic candidate in 2024.

"If the Democrats were to lose control of Congress in 2022, Clinton could use defeat as a basis for running," Schoen and Stein say, referring to Joe Biden's low ratings and doubts about his possible re-election, Vice President Kamala's low popularity. Harris and the absence of a strong Democrat to lead the 2024 ticket.

In conclusion "if the Democrats want a chance to win the presidency in 2024, Clinton could be their best option".
