US and Seoul respond to Pyongyang and launch 4 missiles into the China Sea

The United States and South Korea respond to the provocation of Pyongyang which yesterday launched a missile over Japan and, in turn, fire four ground-to-ground missiles as part of joint exercises with the US. A fifth crashed to the ground in Gangneung, in northeastern South Korea. After the explosion there was a fire that caused panic among the residents , many thought of a real attack. The accident did not cause any injuries.

The four Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles were successfully launched and accurately hit dummy targets.

The intent of the action was evidently to demonstrate the allies' ability to discourage further provocations.
