All of Moscow's main airports have been temporarily closed following a massive drone attack attributed to Ukraine . The Russian Ministry of Transport announced the closure of all take-offs and landings at Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports to ensure air traffic safety . According to the Telegram channel Shot, the emergency has had a severe impact on air travel, with 527 flights canceled or delayed at the Russian capital's airports .
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed responsibility for the overnight attacks in the Moscow region on social media. "For the second time this week, the Moscow oil refinery was hit ," he wrote on X, adding that military and strategic targets were also hit in the Rostov region and in Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
"This is a fully justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and communities ," Zelensky said, emphasizing the effectiveness of Ukraine's medium- and long-range offensive capabilities. The president also reiterated the need for a diplomatic solution to the conflict. "It's time to end the war, and Russia must take the necessary diplomatic steps," he said. Zelensky will participate in the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, the so-called Ramstein format, in Belgium today, as confirmed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
