Talks for a solution to the war in Ukraine are being held in Geneva "with the utmost discretion", but not at the moment at the highest levels.

This is what the Swiss foreign minister , Ignazio Cassis , said in an interview with the newspapers of the Ch Media group, taken up by the news agencies.

“One day this war will end through negotiation . Building peace is a complicated business that requires a lot of diplomacy,” he added. Switzerland is doing "everything possible" to the UN, he assures. "But since Russia has the right to veto, it is almost impossible to do anything."

For this reason, he concludes, an imminent solution is very difficult «short of a miracle» .

And while the news arrives from Kiev, during the visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez , that Spain could send another four Leopard tanks to Ukraine in addition to the six already sent, the UN assembly is ready to vote on the draft resolution which underlines «the need to achieve, as soon as possible, a complete, just and lasting peace in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter», thus reaffirming «the commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine» and asking « the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of military forces from Moscow". A resolution that the US thinks "will go down in history" .

About twenty countries registered to speak today, including France, Germany and China (last).

The greatest unknown factor and fear (for the bloc in favour) is the possibility that a giant like India votes no, together with Mali, which could break the African front. For the rest, no changes are expected, with China moving towards abstention.

Meanwhile, NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has warned China against possible support for Russia in the war in Ukraine. With the United States ready to demonstrate, as revealed by the Wall Street Journal, the shipment of Chinese weapons to Moscow.
