Giorgia Meloni and Mette Frederiksen joined forces on social media to send a "joint message to Europe" and say no to "uncontrolled immigration" that has "negative impacts" on societies.

The two prime ministers, the only women in Europe to lead their countries, as they emphasized in their message, say they want to " share some reflections on the future of Europe, the security of its citizens, and the need to defend our values and our way of life ," as Meloni later wrote on Facebook. "We are aware that many may question our collaboration," the Italian prime minister admits, referring to her Danish counterpart's different political background, with whom " we certainly don't agree on everything. But we are united by our desire to defend Europe ."

" We do not accept ," the two prime ministers insist, " uncontrolled immigration to Europe , and we have promoted a rigorous immigration policy, both in our countries and in Europe. No one can deny the negative impacts of illegal immigration on our societies: rising crime rates, increasing pressure on public services, and eroding citizens' trust. It is particularly serious," Meloni and Frederiksen emphasize, "when illegal migrants, deprived of the right to remain in our countries, commit violent crimes, traffic drugs, or are responsible for sexual violence."

Understandably, they add, European citizens expect concrete action from their political representatives. For too long, ordinary people in particular have paid too high a price due to uncontrolled immigration . It is our duty to continue our determined efforts to provide concrete responses to citizens, especially the most vulnerable, and to ensure greater safety and protection for our communities. Together, we have succeeded in shifting the balance in the application of the European Convention on Human Rights towards foreign citizens who commit serious crimes. Consequently, expulsions should now increase.
