"We do not want a war between Russia and NATO, which would have no winners".

This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin after the meeting - which lasted five hours - with French leader Emmanuel Macron, who flew to Moscow to mediate in favor of a de-escalation of the high-tension situation on the border with Ukraine, where from months Moscow is amassing troops, with the intention, this is the Western suspicion, of an aggression.

"For our part - said the head of the Kremlin - we will do everything to find compromises that will satisfy everyone".

The Kremlin number one, however, did not give up on stinging: "NATO is anything but a peaceful organization", he remarked at the press conference.

Macron also says he is confident that the parties can find the basis for a detente: "We had a discussion that allowed us to formulate a series of proposals on which I believe I can say that there are elements of convergence between Russia and France", declared the French president after the interview with Putin.
