Ukraine, China "ready to supply weapons to Russia"

"China is considering supplying Russia with weapons and ammunition for the war in Ukraine."

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this a few hours after their meeting in Munich with China's top diplomat, Wang Yi.

The head of US diplomacy stressed that "at the moment Chinese companies are providing non-lethal support to Vladimir Putin's forces", also warning that "if Beijing supplies weapons to Moscow there will be serious consequences ".

Washington's concern is based "on a series of information we have received," Blinken specified.

The secretary of state then recalled that the possibility of Chinese support for Moscow in Ukraine had worried Washington "since day one".

As to what kind of military aid Beijing could provide Moscow, Blinken remained vague: "There's a whole gamut: from munitions to the weapons themselves."
