Negotiations continue, amidst vetoes, threats and a thousand difficulties, for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

On the green light for the truce, "the ball is now in Israel's court", say Hamas spokespersons, after the new round of negotiations in Egypt.

The government in Cairo asks the parties for "flexibility", but the Jewish state warns, after the US threatened to stop military aid in the event of an offensive in Rafah: "We will move forward even alone, because there is no alternative to defeat of Hamas."

Meanwhile, while the Israeli raids continue (4 deaths in the Jabilia area last night), the Middle Eastern crisis returns to the attention of the United Nations General Assembly, which could vote on a draft resolution that would recognize Palestine as qualified to become a member Full UN.
