The AP-7 motorway , the main road link for road transport on the border between Spain and France , has continued to be interrupted since Tuesday due to blocks carried out at various points by dozens of tractors belonging to Catalan farmers .

There are no forecasts as to when it will be possible to re-establish traffic on the motorway, where there are at least 4 km of queues, with goods transport trucks diverted to the towns of Borrassà and Vilademius, in Catalonia .

The national N-II is also still interrupted at the junction with the AP -7 , crucial in the connections from Spain to France, even if the mobilizations are easing, after the agreements reached last night by the councilor for Climate Action, Rural agenda and nutrition of the Generalitat, David Mascort, with representatives of the most representative agrarian organizations (Uniò de Pagesos, Fcac and Revolta Pagesa).

The primary sector, mobilized for a month, believes that the institutions give priority to caring for the environment over their own work and, among their demands, they demand that the department return to being called Agriculture and Fisheries.

Mascort accepted the proposal - according to spokespersons of the organizations - to reorganize the water supply in a plenary meeting of the Catalan Chamber convened for next week.

In the current phase of the drought emergency in Catalonia, farmers are forced to reduce their use of water by 80% and demand that the effort be shared more equitably with other sectors, such as industry or tourism . In exchange, they committed to removing motorway blockades in the most affected areas of the provinces of Lleida, Gerona and the Catalan Pyrenees.
