Overnight attack on Ta'if Air Base in Saudi Arabia. "Last night, I personally followed the developments in Saudi Arabia with the utmost attention and in contact with the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Luciano Portolano, particularly at Ta'if Air Base, which has been the target of several attacks and where Italian personnel are deployed in Operation Inherent Resolve," said Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. " No Italian soldiers were involved. The attack hit an Italian F-2000 aircraft, which was inside the base and in a decentralized area. There was no other damage to vehicles or infrastructure used by our personnel."

"I have asked the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Luciano Portolano, the Commander of the Joint Operations Command, General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, and the Chief of the Air Force, General Antonio Conserva," the minister continued, "to provide me with a further assessment, following those already made in recent weeks, on the evolving situation, the condition of our personnel, and possible operational options. They reconfirmed that all security measures to protect military personnel had already been in place for some time."

"I'll have the first update shortly," he added, "during a meeting at the Ministry of Defense. The situation is being monitored with the utmost attention, with the aim of ensuring the full protection of our personnel and operating with the necessary responsibility."
