Nine Italian citizens are among the 46 people injured in a bus accident on a highway between the cities of Suez and Cairo , in Egypt . Local media reported. Two of them , in particular, are hospitalized in intensive care in a hospital in Suez and a 34-year-old woman risks having her arm amputated but to proceed "we need to wait for the consent of a family member or the consulate" , a health manager specifies.

Al-Ahram newspaper said the other injured included 21 Russian citizens, 11 Turks, three Egyptians and two Britons .

The vehicle is said to have overturned for reasons yet to be ascertained. It was carrying 43 tourists and three local workers.

The main hospital in Suez has declared a state of emergency and called in all available medical personnel, according to local authorities.

The situation, local sources specify, is being followed by the Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar. The Italian Consul in Egypt is on his way to Suez for assistance.
