Ukrainian forces have broken through the first Russian defense line near Zaporizhzhia and are now before the second Moscow fortification.

This was stated by the commander of the Tavria Group of Operational and Strategic Forces, Alexander Tarnavsky, in an interview with the Guardian. According to Tarnavsky, Russia did not believe that Kiev's army went that deep, so it devoted 60% of its time and resources to building the first defensive line and only 20% each to the second and third lines.

"We are completing the destruction of enemy units providing cover for retreating Russian troops behind their second defensive line," the general added. It took the Ukrainian forces a long time due to an extensive minefield that forced sappers in Kiev to work hard to find a clear road.

Behind this outpost, Russian troops "just wait for the Ukrainian army," shooting down vehicles with bullets and drones, Tarnavsky said. Now that the front line has been breached, however, Moscow has been forced to redeploy troops to the area, from the front lines inside occupied Ukraine, from Kherson and Lyman, but also from inside Russia.
