Alghero is also concerned for its citizens currently in the Middle East, in an area experiencing high tensions and a military escalation that is causing international concern.

Among them is Alghero-born entrepreneur Felice Peretti, a well-known face in the city, currently on vacation in Dubai. Also living and working in the United Arab Emirates metropolis is Angelo Meloni, a filmmaker born in 1987 and originally from Alghero. He shared a live video of the situation in a video posted on social media.

"The defense system works very well," Meloni explains, "but when the missiles are intercepted, the fragments fall on the city." These words reflect the tense atmosphere currently prevailing. "They asked us to stay inside the buildings, away from the windows. We're in touch with all our friends here in Dubai to see what the situation is like in the different neighborhoods, because the only thing we hear now is the sound of missiles exploding in the air. Yesterday, two missiles exploded over my head. From what we know, Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports were hit."

Currently, according to reports from local residents, local authorities have activated safety protocols, urging residents to limit their travel and stay indoors. Messages of support and encouragement are pouring in from Alghero, hoping that tensions can be eased quickly and everyone can return safely.
