Farewell to the oldest man in the world, Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia. 112 years old (soon he would have turned 113), Spaniard, he had conquered the longevity record last September. He was born on 11 February 1909 in Puente Castro.

To give the news of his death is the Guinness Book of Records.

Due to his short stature - 1.50 meters - he had not been called to fight in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War and had started a footwear business that had grown over the years and proved capable of achieving good success.

Saturnino had seven children, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The absolute record remains with the French Jeanne Calment, who lived 122 years and 164 days before dying in 1997.
