The 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Carolyn Bertozzi , Mortem Meldal and Barry Sharpless for developing techniques to engineer biological molecules.

Barry Sharpless and Morten Meldal laid the foundation, some 20 years ago, for a functional form of chemistry - "snap chemistry" - in which blocks of molecules come together quickly and efficiently.

This type of chemistry, which consists in the possibility of joining molecules more efficiently and at the same time simpler, is a technique that, thanks to Bertozzi, has also been applied to biological molecules , in living organisms.

There are many applications, including those related to green chemistry and high-precision cancer therapies.
