The Republican-majority US House has authorized the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden . The resolution to formalize the impeachment inquiry passed with 221 votes in favor and 212 votes against.

The affairs of the "first son" Hunter Biden are under scrutiny, called to testify and investigated for tax crimes and alleged stories of corruption.

And Hunter Biden himself came out with public statements: «Let me state as clearly as possible that my father is not financially involved in my activities, neither when I was a lawyer nor when I was a member of the board of directors of Burisma (Ukrainian energy company, ed. ) nor in my partnership with a private Chinese businessman nor in my investments in the USA or abroad, and certainly not in my capacity as an artist." He admitted his personal and professional failures but said they were not grounds for impeachment.

“This is public corruption at the highest levels, there is serious evidence,” replied James Comer, president of the House oversight committee , one of the three that has been investigating him and his father for a year. “It's not the president's son who makes the rules,” he added, calling his refusal to testify behind closed doors “unacceptable” and threatening to be sued for contempt of Congress.

After the House vote, the US president also intervened: « The Republicans – said Joe Biden – waste time on baseless political stunts . Americans need their leaders in Congress to act on priorities that matter to the country and the world. I met with the Ukrainian president, who is leading his people in a battle for freedom against Russia's aggression. Republicans in Congress will not act to help. The people of Israel are fighting against terrorists and are waiting for our help. Republicans in Congress will not act to help. We must address the situation at our southern border and I am determined to try to solve the problem. We need funds to strengthen border security but Republicans won't act to help."

"Political gimmick without foundation, there is no evidence" , is the comment of White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.
