Terrorist attack on a hotel in Mogadishu, dozens of deaths

Attack by Somali terrorists from Al Shabaab in the Hayat hotel in Mogadishu. The dead would be about thirty.

First there were some explosions, then the terrorists entered the hotel and took refuge in a room with hostages.

The security forces broke into the hotel, resulting in a violent fire fight with the terrorists : "Most of the people were saved," says a police officer. But the blitz of the police in the morning had not yet finished, shots and sporadic explosions were still heard, with the terrorists who are barricaded.

The hotel is also popular with many foreigners. "There are dozens of people who have been rescued by the security forces who were trapped inside," the police said.
