An explosion in the skies over Kiev triggered the air raid alarm .

The head of the military administration of the city, Serhiy Popko, initially reported that the incident was due to the " fall of a NASA space satellite ". But the US space agency then denied everything, stating that the structure "is still in orbit".

«Around 22 o'clock, a bright glow of a flying object was observed in the sky over Kiev. According to preliminary information, this phenomenon was the result of a NASA space satellite falling to Earth . To prevent the debris from causing casualties by falling to the ground, an air raid warning was announced. The air defense did not go into operation,” Popko said.

In the previous hours, NASA had actually warned about the possibility that its defunct satellite Rhessi , which has traveled in space for over 20 years, crashed to Earth on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, without however being able to provide a geographical location. According to estimates by the American space agency, most of the satellite would have gone up in smoke on its return trip to the atmosphere. After the video of the explosion in Ukraine went around the web, the denial arrived: "The return has not yet taken place: Rhessi is still in orbit".
