A scandal that shakes the SPD and the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz himself.

At least nine women who attended the traditional summer party reserved for members of the Social Democratic party were victims of the so-called " rape drug ".

The case dates back to last Wednesday and has now been reported by the Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel. The condemnation of the leaders of the party, who spoke of a " monstrous act " and made it clear that they had already reported the incident, was very harsh.

However, there is great embarrassment: the party, organized in the chancellery, was attended by a thousand people, including Scholz, along with many deputies and their collaborators.

The next day the police received a complaint from a 21-year-old who did not remember anything, she only knew that she had consumed food and soft drinks and that she felt sick, with nausea and dizziness.

Then an investigation was opened against unknown persons for serious personal injuries and reports of at least eight other cases were immediately received. According to German media, the victims ingested so-called " KO drops ," a tasteless liquid drug that is easily mixed with drinks that has a range of harmful effects, from short-term memory loss to fainting. They are used by attackers mainly for sexual abuse, but also for theft.

"It makes me angry that such a thing could happen in an event organized by the party," said Lars Klingbeil , who along with Scholz is the party leader. The party was reserved for members of the SPD and could only be accessed by invitation.
