Mexican federal authorities have arrested Adrián "N," alias "El 20," the alleged regional leader of the Pacific Cartel. The operation, the result of intelligence work and coordination between the Army, Navy, National Guard, and other security forces, took place in Villa Unión, in the municipality of Mazatlán, Sinaloa. A second unidentified person was also arrested.

The criminal is suspected of coordinating the group's activities in several municipalities in the region and is believed to be involved in the September 30, 2016, ambush in Culiacán, which killed five soldiers. Authorities also link him to attacks against the military during the 2019 and 2023 operations to capture Ovidio Guzmán, alias "El Ratón," the son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.

During the raid, two 7.62 caliber machine guns, four long weapons, 30 magazines, 2,158 rounds of ammunition, a vehicle, and various tactical equipment were seized.

The Defense Department emphasized that the detention, combined with recent operations against other prominent members such as "Gabito" and "Texas," severely compromises the group's logistical and operational capacity. The detainees and weapons are now at the disposal of the Mazatlán Prosecutor's Office for routine investigations.
