A large retractor was found in the abdomen of a woman 18 months after giving birth by caesarean section, according to a report by the New Zealand Commission on Health and Disability, cited by CNN.

The instrument, the size of which is 17 centimeters in diameter , had been forgotten there after the birth of her child at Auckland City Hospital in 2020 . For months , the mother suffered from chronic pain, undergoing various checks to ascertain what was wrong .

Eventually she had to go to the emergency room, where she underwent an abdominal CAT scan which uncovered the device, which was immediately removed.
