The Seoul Central District Court has sentenced former first lady Kim Keon-hee to 20 months in prison for corruption, the first time she has been implicated in multiple criminal cases. Yonhap news agency reports that the case concerns the acceptance of luxury goods from the Unification Church, one of the country's most influential religious sects.

The court, however, cleared her of charges of stock-rigging and violating political financing laws. Special Prosecutor Min Joong-ki's team had requested an exemplary sentence of 15 years.
