Alberto Livoni is free.

The Emilian humanitarian worker detained since Saturday 6 November in a police station in Addis Ababa for his payment of money for refugees was released.

This was confirmed by the NGO of which he is coordinator for Ethiopia, the "Vis" ("International volunteering for development"), an organization that supports the Salesians in schooling and professional training projects for young people: "We are finally happy to communicate the release of our colleague Alberto Livoni, held in custody in Ethiopia in recent days ".

The Ethiopian authorities wanted to ascertain why the VIS coordinator would have given about 20 thousand dollars to a person: the investigators suspected that the funds were used to help the militiamen of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigray (Fplt) now launched to conquer the capital.

"The operation conducted by the Italian Embassy in Ethiopia, to which we thank for the tireless commitment, has led today to release the Italian VIS operator in good condition - says Vis -. We remain apprehensive for the two operators Local VIS still detained in custody, we continue to follow their situation, also hoping for their immediate release ".

Together with the 65-year-old Livoni, in fact, two other operators of the local staff of the Vis were stopped.
