Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich poisoned. The news, reported by the Wall Street Journal and Bellingcat, was confirmed by the spokesman for the billionaire who had proposed himself as a mediator to end the war in Ukraine.

Abramovich suffered symptoms of suspected poisoning after one of the first meetings between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations which took place between 3 and 4 March in the Brest region of Belarus.

The attack may have been committed by those in Moscow who wanted to sabotage negotiations to end the war.

According to the newspapers that broke the news, in addition to Abramovich, two Ukrainian negotiators were also poisoned, a fact denied by the advisor to the presidency and Ukrainian chief negotiator Mikhailo Podolyak: "This is speculation, he said adding that all Ukrainian negotiators “They work as usual”. The spokesperson for Rusman Umerov, on the other hand, one of the allegedly poisoned, limited himself to a "no comment".

Symptoms encountered after the meeting included "red eyes, peeling of the skin on the face and hands". Abramovich also lost his sight for a few hours, then received adequate medical treatment in Turkey and fully recovered it.

Western experts are examining what happened to determine if the symptoms were caused by a chemical or biological agent, or if it was an attack with electromagnetic radiation. According to Bellingcat, the investigative journalism group that first broke the news with the WSJ, the symptoms are consistent with chemical weapons poisoning.
