Marco Raduano, the former head of the Gargano mafia who escaped from Nuoro prison on February 24, 2023, when he lowered himself with a sheet from the perimeter wall of Badu 'e Carros, confessed "to having participated in the assassination of Paul-Félix Paoli and to having benefited from aid in Corsica during his escape."

French justice sources have made this known, reporting four arrests for the death of the manager of a restaurant on the beach, on August 24, 2023. The 51-year-old was killed with a gunshot in the parking lot of "La Caravelle" in Poggio Mezzana in Corsica. The case is being investigated by the Marseille prosecutor's office, which also has jurisdiction for Corsica over major crime.

Between the four people   arrested and placed under investigation for the crimes of "murder in an organised gang and criminal association for criminal purposes", there is Marc Furfaro, former independence candidate in the municipal elections of Lucciana (Haute-Corse), subject of a European arrest warrant issued by the court of Cagliari for aggravated complicity in a mafia criminal organisation.

"This was a Franco-Italian operation that began with the arrest of 14 people in Italy last week," said Nicolas Bessone, Marseille prosecutor.

According to sources close to the investigation, the arrests were triggered right after Marco Raduano's revelations.

On the evening of the escape, Raduano, who had a cell phone with him, had to revise his plans, making use of Sardinian facilitators who took him to Bitti for a few days and then 4 months in a tent in the countryside of Padru before leaving for Corsica, then Spain, from where - after the arrest of his right-hand man Gianluigi Troiano - he returned to Corsica where he was arrested last February.
