Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been detained after a protest against a coal mine in Germany. The German police let us know.

Greta was today among the demonstrators near the coal mine of Garzweiler, in Germany, a few kilometers from the village of Luetzerath where there have been clashes between ecologists and the police for days. In fact, that village will be demolished to make room for an expansion of the mine.

Several protesters were transported from the mine site and then detained. Among these also Greta Thunberg: a photographer of the Dpa saw her while three police officers took her away to submit her to a check.

The police justified the eviction on the grounds that it was dangerous to stay in the area, so people participating in the protest action were taken away one by one. Police surrounded the group again and used batons and pepper spray to drive protesters away from the area, where it is strictly forbidden to stop.
