Iranian state television announced that the helicopter on which President Ebrahim Raisi was traveling, involved in an accident , has been found by rescuers. But the Red Crescent which operates in the area denied this.

The news on what happened remains contradictory, also regarding the conditions of the president and the crew, with whom contact was allegedly established by the rescue teams, called to operate in difficult conditions due to fog and bad weather.

From what we understand, the aircraft on which Raisi was traveling was flying over the Iranian province of eastern Azerbaijan and had an "abrupt" emergency landing due to the bad weather conditions. Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian was also on board.

"We hope that God brings the honorable president and his companions back into the arms of the nation," commented Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, saying he was worried about what had happened.
