The Polish Armed Forces said on X that it had scrambled fighter jets in its airspace and placed ground-based air defense systems on high alert in response to Russian attacks in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the airspace above Lublin and Rzeszów airports, in the eastern part of the country, has been closed. Local press reports citing the Armed Forces Operations Command in Warsaw.

These were preventive measures and were aimed at protecting Polish airspace and citizens, especially in areas adjacent to Ukraine, the forces said.

Meanwhile, Russia "launched another massive air strike on Ukrainian cities while people were sleeping. Once again, hundreds of drones and missiles destroyed residential buildings and caused civilian casualties." This was announced on X by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.
