Tragedy in Nepal, where a Yeti Airlines plane crashed.

On board, the company said, there were 72 people, 68 passengers and 4 crew members: all dead .

The aircraft, an ATR-72 from Kathmandu, crashed on landing in an inhabited area between the old and new airport of Pokhara, in central Nepal.

The hopes of the rescuers of finding some survivors lasted a few hours, for tomorrow national mourning was proclaimed in Nepal.

The cause of the tragedy is not yet known. The vehicle caught fire after the crash and rescuers are trying to put out the flames, said a local official, Gurudutta Dhakal.

Fifteen foreigners were on board the aircraft. These are five people from India, four Russians, two South Koreans, an Australian, an Argentinian, an Irishman and a Frenchman. The Farnesina is verifying the possible presence of Italians through the Crisis Unit and the Consulate General in Calcutta.
