Pfizer BioNTech's Covid vaccine is also safe for children between the ages of five and eleven.
The companies that make it have made it known, claiming that it is "safe and well tolerated" and has achieved a "robust" immune response in the youngest up to five years. For this reason, regulatory approval will be requested shortly.
The injection aimed at children would reportedly contain the same product intended for adults but with a lower dosage.
As co-founder Ozlem Tureci recently explained to Spiegel, the dose "will need lower temperatures" for storage. BioNTech is "already preparing for production" and is counting on distribution as early as mid-October.
The data, the companies continue, will be sent to regulatory bodies in the European Union, the United States and around the world "as soon as possible".
UNDER 5 YEARS - Meanwhile, Pfizer trials continue on children aged between 6 months and 5 years: approximately 4,500 young patients are “enrolled” in Pfizer-BioNTech studies in the United States, Finland, Poland and Spain. The results are expected "before the end of the year".
