Patrick Zaki could be released today, but there are still no certainties as his sister, Marise George explained, following the decision of a judge from Mansura who ordered the release of the Egyptian student from the University of Bologna.

The formal procedures seem to take time, meanwhile a new hearing has been set for February 1st. This is because, together with the return to freedom, the acquittal of the charges was not pronounced.

The young man was arrested on February 7, 2020.

His lawyer, Hoda Nasrallah, says the release will take place from Tora prison on the southern outskirts of Cairo, where Patrick spent most of his pre-trial detention. But it is not excluded that he may instead leave the Mansura prison, his hometown and residence.
