Fifteen years of imprisonment , this is the sentence inflicted in Spain on Rassoul Bissoultanov, the Chechen responsible for the murder of Niccolò Ciatti , who was beaten to death on 12 August 2017 in Lloret de Mar outside a nightclub.

The president of the Court of Girona " imposed the minimum penalty ", underlines Luigi Ciatti , father of the victim. “I think he should study the word justice. He justifies such a sentence with 'as hard as it may seem to relatives', I think he should change his job. People who should be on our side and instead are on the side of the killers. You are the shame of a civilized world ”.

Again: “When you go home, do you have the courage to look your children in the eye?”, Continues Ciatti, who asks for “ true justice ” for his son.

The trial in Girona, which opened on May 30, ended in less than a week: on June 3 the court had found Rassoul Bissoultanov guilty of voluntary murder for the death of the Florentine boy. According to the popular jury, the lethal football for Niccolò would have been delivered with the intention of killing him. It was then up to the judge to establish the exact extent of the sentence: possible from a minimum sentence of 15 years, the one subsequently imposed, to up to 25 years in prison. The prosecutor had asked for 24.

At the same Spanish trial, a friend of Bissoultanov's, Movsar Magomadov , was acquitted: for the prosecutor he would have been a simple witness of what happened, not an accomplice of the convicted Chechen. A trial for the murder is also underway in Rome.

The lawyers of Niccolò's family will most likely challenge the sentence: "We will make an assessment very quickly".
