After two days of incessant searches, Charlotte Sena, the 9-year-old girl kidnapped on Saturday at Moreau Lake State Park in New York state, was found safe and sound.

The little girl was in a closet of the camper of the kidnapper, Craig Nelson Ross Jr., 47, as announced by the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul.

The turning point came Monday morning when Ross slipped a ransom letter into the Sena family's mailbox. Investigators found his fingerprints on the envelope: by entering them into the database, they identified those of Ross Jr, arrested in Saratoga in 1999 on charges of driving under the influence.

Investigators tracked the suspect to a camper, also finding Charlotte hidden in a closet, fortunately in good health. The little girl disappeared Saturday evening while she was camping with her family at Moreau Lake State Park.

Ross was charged with first-degree kidnapping, has been arraigned and is in jail without the possibility of bail.
