"We will occupy the Gaza Strip. The decision has been made," a senior official from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office told Channel 12.
"Hamas will not release any more hostages without a full surrender, and we will not surrender. If we don't act now, the hostages will starve to death and Gaza will remain under Hamas control," sources close to the prime minister of the Jewish state continued.
Meanwhile, in the last few hours over 100 journalists, photographers and war correspondents have signed a petition calling for "immediate and unsupervised access for the foreign press
to the Gaza Strip."
The petition is signed by well-known journalists working for global newspapers and is part of the Freedom To Report initiative, launched by award-winning photographer Andre Liohn.
Signatories include Sky News special correspondent Alex Crawford, presenter Mehdi Hasan, Christiane Amanpour and Clarissa Ward, as well as war photographer Don McCullin.
The appeal renews calls for both Israel and Hamas to allow foreign journalists to enter Gaza to independently report on the war, something they have been prevented from doing since the latest conflict began in 2023.
