The missing plane in Alaska with ten passengers on board has been found after the crash: there were no survivors. The Coast Guard explained that the aircraft was identified by a helicopter that was patrolling the area and, according to initial reconstructions, the plane quickly lost altitude and speed before disappearing from radar.

The plane, a Bering Air Cessna Caravan with nine passengers and a pilot aboard, was reported missing around 1 GMT (0200 GMT Thursday to Friday) . It was flying from Unalakleet to Nome, about 235 kilometers (146 miles) away across Norton Sound, a bay in the Bering Sea bordering Alaska.

The disappearance of this plane is the latest in a recent series of air disasters in the United States. On January 30, a passenger plane was struck in mid-air by a U.S. Army helicopter in Washington , killing all 67 passengers. That crash was followed on February 1 by the crash of a medical plane in a busy neighborhood in Philadelphia , killing seven and injuring 19.
