Shocking discovery in Mexico where local authorities found the charred bodies of 5 women . According to the police, it would be one of the worst episodes of gender-based violence in the country .

All aged between 19 and 48, they had disappeared on March 7 in Celaya in Guanajuato, a state in central Mexico where industry, tourism and organized crime violence coexist. Six people were arrested for the heinous murder, all belonging to a criminal group in the state of Tamaulipas, in the north-east of the country.

Guanajuato is a battleground between two criminal gangs, Santa Rosa de Lima and the Jalisco Nueva Generacion cartel, who vie for drug trafficking and fuel theft. The motive for the crime is not yet clear, the investigation continues.
