Ukraine's goal is to reach a peace summit, to end the conflict with Moscow, by February. The headquarters could be that of the United Nations and the mediator the UN secretary Guterres. Because "every war ends with diplomacy," explained Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had also spoken by telephone with Indian premier Narendra Modi, the next president of the G20. But to the question of questions, i.e. whether Russia will be invited to the summit, the minister posed a condition that is difficult for the Kremlin to accept: first, Kuleba replied, Moscow will have to accept being prosecuted for war crimes by an international tribunal, «only in this way they can be invited».

Even on holidays there was no respite from bombs: dozens of Russian attacks on the country devastated by more than 300 days of invasion.

Battles are underway in Kreminna, in the Lugansk region, where Ukrainian troops "are not far" from the city. Meanwhile, emergency blackouts continue in several regions, including the capital Kiev. But Zelensky tries to keep the morale of the population high, saying he is convinced that the Ukrainians "will survive this winter" just as they have endured nuclear missiles, threats and blackmail, because "they know what they are fighting for".
