The ultra-liberal Javier Milei swore on the Constitution of the Republic in front of the assembled Chambers: he thus becomes the 55th president of Argentina, the tenth since the return of democracy in 1983. Milei received the attributes of command - the light blue and white sash and the traditional presidential baton - from the outgoing head of state, Alberto Fernandez.

For Argentina "there is no alternative to adjustment and there is no alternative to shock", he said in his first speech as head of state.

“There is no money,” he added, the economic reform and stabilization program “will have an impact on the level of activity, inflation and poverty.” «We will go through a period of stagflation but it will be the last bitter sip that Argentina will have to swallow. We have received the worst legacy in history," he concluded.
