«Brothers and sisters, being “outgoing” means for each of us to become, like Jesus, an open door . It's sad and hurts to see closed doors : the closed doors of our selfishness towards those who walk beside us every day; the closed doors of our individualism in a society that risks atrophying in solitude; the closed doors of our indifference towards those in suffering and poverty; the doors closed to those who are foreign, different, migrant, poor".

Pope Francis said this in his homily at Mass in Kossuth Lajos Square, in Budapest, on his third day of apostolic visit to Hungary, a country which, as is known, under the government of President Viktor Orban (met with Bergoglio the day before yesterday) , carries on a policy of "closure" towards migrants.

"Even the closed doors of our ecclesial communities - the pontiff continued in his homily - closed between us, closed towards the world, closed towards those who are "not in order", closed towards those who yearn for God's forgiveness".

« Please: let's open the doors! », the Pope added, «and let us also try to be - with words, gestures, daily activities - like Jesus: an open door, a door that is never slammed in anyone's face, a door that allows everyone to enter and experience the beauty of the Lord's love and forgiveness".
