More tragic shipwrecks in the Mediterranean Sea, in the channel between Tunisia and Italy. In the last few hours, a migrant was rescued in international waters by the Star vessel. The man, who disembarked in Malta , reported that at least 50 people died last Friday in a shipwreck in the central Mediterranean.

The Lampedusa Port Authority searched the area where the tragedy occurred, but to no avail. The survivor reported that the group of migrants had departed from Tunisia and had been sailing for 24 hours before the situation escalated.

Meanwhile, updates continue to arrive on migrants who departed North Africa aboard boats during Cyclone Harry . Approximately 380 people are believed to have disappeared between January 14 and 21 , after departing Tunisia on eight boats, which were swept away en route by the storm that also hit Sardinia and Sicily.
