French National Rally leader Marine Le Pen was found guilty of embezzlement of public funds by the Paris Court of Appeal, which upheld her four-year sentence, two of which were suspended. The Court of Appeal upheld her conviction for "serious crimes."

The case against her concerned false posts in the European Parliament. Regarding her ineligibility (she was sentenced to five years in the first instance), the judges said it had "already been served": Le Pen will therefore be able to run for the 2027 presidential election, as announced this evening live on television. But she will do so, she also specified, "without wearing an electronic bracelet," as required by the Court of Appeal that upheld her conviction. This is thanks to her decision to appeal the sentence to the Supreme Court of Cassation , considering that the appeal suspends the sentence.

"Jordan Bardella and I are fighting for France; we have no personal ambitions. He, with his energy, will be an exceptional prime minister; we will be a ticket that will change things in France," said Marine Le Pen as she announced her fourth presidential candidacy.
