With Europe in the midst of a new wave of Covid, Emmanuel Macron returns to speak to the nation, for the ninth time since the start of the pandemic.
The biggest news announced by the French president concerns the over 65s: "From 15 December the validity of the green pass for those over 65 will be subject to the third recall of the anti-Covid vaccine".
The so-called "boosters" are "the best solution for the most vulnerable", he remarked, and this is why we must "accelerate" with the vaccination campaign. Also for this reason, the third dose will be extended to all over 50s.
"Get vaccinated, get vaccinated: I'm counting on you", is Macron's appeal, launched by the Elysée to the millions of French who have not yet taken the first dose. "The pandemic is not over yet, we will have to live with the virus and its variants until the world population is vaccinated ”.
Finally the president announced that France will build new nuclear reactors: "To guarantee
France's energy independence and achieving our goals, in particular carbon neutrality in 2050, for the first time in decades we will relaunch the construction of nuclear reactors in our country ".
