King Charles turns 75.

For the English sovereign it is a birthday with a familiar tone , although not without public celebrations and social initiatives, as required by the British monarchical tradition which allocates official holidays to a symbolic birthday usually celebrated in June.

According to the BBC, a congratulatory phone call is scheduled for today from his second son Harry, the rebellious son who self-exiled in the USA with his wife Meghan and their two children after the traumatic break from the Royal Family in 2020. A phone call confirmed by Buckingham Palace sources and which seems destined to mark a moment of relaxation between father and son , even in the absence of that reconciliatory meeting that according to the tabloids the king would have tried to organize for his birthday in spite of some resistance attributed to Camilla and even more to the heir to William throne, who seems to still remain at loggerheads with his younger brother.

For today there will also be a banquet offered by the sovereign to a chosen group of ordinary subjects and 75-year-old peers in the country residence of Highgrove, in English Gloucestershire. And above all the official lunch of the Coronation Food Project, in the heart of London, promoted today by associations sponsored by the king for the benefit of the homeless and people in difficulty. Confirming Charles III's desire to highlight special attention to issues ranging from the environment to the socioeconomic problems aggravated by the high cost of living in the Kingdom : also in apparent contrast with certain positions taken by Rishi Sunak's conservative government.
