An Italian citizen died in the collision between two cruise ships on the Nile near Luxor.

The Farnesina announced: "Officials at the Italian consulate are in contact with the Italian citizen's spouse and with the tour operators who assisted the other Italians on the affected vessel."

According to initial reports, the impact occurred 30 kilometers from Luxor around 7:00 PM local time in Egypt, destroying at least four cabins on the Royal Beau Rivage. Dozens of Italians were on board; the victim was with her husband.
