«If you're not afraid you're reckless. But we are trained, we know the risks and we know how to deal with them. When we arrived we were shocked but we did the only thing possible: apply the procedures and increase attention. It was a very demanding mission from a psychological and also physical point of view."

Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Vio, spokesperson for the Taurinense Alpine Brigade, which has been leading the Sector West in Lebanon since February under the control of Unifil and which has handed over command to the Sassari Brigade, said it in an interview.

«Not a simple scenario, the tension here is very high, there's no denying it. What makes the picture more complex is that we experience a sort of "roller coaster" effect with the tension reaching peaks, and then stabilizing again. And after a period of relative tranquility something else always happens, even imperceptible, which triggers a new escalation,” said Vio.

Since 7 October "if we have to do a calculation, I would say that we have been forced to take shelter in bunkers more or less four days out of ten", estimates the soldier. However, the work continued: «We never stopped carrying out our activities: 200 activities a day, including patrols, observation and monitoring points».
