While the UN Security Council postpones the vote on a resolution for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas until Monday, dozens of trucks loaded with humanitarian aid intended for the population of Gaza remain stuck on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing.

The Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres arrived on site for a visit and launched a new appeal to quickly find an agreement for the truce, also aimed at allowing aid to enter the Strip safely.

Meanwhile, Rafah itself, beyond the crossing, with Egypt, therefore within the Strip, is the next declared objective of the Jewish State's offensive against Hamas. An offensive that Tel Aviv's allies are trying to avert, to avoid a new humanitarian catastrophe.

The USA, in particular, through Secretary of State Antony Blinken, has warned the Israeli government not to proceed, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he is adamant: «The army will enter Rafah to eliminate Hamas even without the support of Washington» .
