In Iran , the first death sentence was decided after the "riots" that erupted following the death of Mahsa Amini, the twenty-year-old arrested and then died because she did not wear the veil correctly. This was announced by the Iranian judicial authority.

According to the verdict of the Tehran court, which issued the sentence, the man was found guilty of "set fire to a government building, disturb public order, assemble and conspire to commit a crime against national security and being an enemy of God”.

Another court in the capital sentenced five people to prison terms of between 5 and 10 years for "assembling and conspiring to commit crimes against national security and disturbing public order". However, these would be courts of first instance and the convicted can then appeal, says the news agency of the Iranian judiciary Mizan.
