The first flight of asylum seekers destined for transfer from the United Kingdom to Rwanda has been suspended as part of the disputed agreement reached by the Johnson government with the African country which plans to send back a part of the migrants there awaiting answers on their requests for asylum on the island.
The flight that was supposed to leave last night was stopped on the basis of a suspension that the British judges had initially denied, but which was granted by the European Court of Human Rights after the appeals.
But the government of Boris Johnson goes straight and expresses its determination to move forward with the plan: "We will not be discouraged from doing the right thing and from implementing our plans to control the borders of our country," said the minister. Interior Priti Patel, adding that the government legal team is "reviewing every decision made on this flight and preparations for the next flight are starting now."
